Airbus Defence and Space is a division of Airbus Group formed by combining the business activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. The new division is Europes number one defence and space enterprise, the second largest space business worldwide and among the top ten global defence enterprises. It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy has arisen for a Navigation Systems Engineer with Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth work within the Earth Observation, Navigation and Science directorate. The role involves working across multiple projects on the architecture and the design of GNSS localization navigation systems. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include a Requirements analysis, b Derivation of system specifications using DOORS, c System and signal simulation in Matlab, d System architecture modeling preferably using Rhapsody, e System and interface design. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. I We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience a Proven experience in Navigation, b Knowledge of Navigation Systems c Familiarity with Test Equipment, incl WF Generators etc., d A good understanding of complex systems is essential. II Relevant experience in the following areas is required a Global Navigation Satellite Systems, b GNSS ground systems and products, c GNSS space environment modelling, d GNSS Receivers, e Knowledge of DGPS and EGNOS, f Software development, possibly navigationrelated, g Experience working with ESA. III Desirable Requirements a Knowledge of Galileo signals b Knowledge of DOORS and Rhapsody You are flexible and able to work on a number of tasks across a project and to work on multiple projects at the same time. A willingness and capability to learn on the job is essential. Training will be provided but the role does require a large amount of independent working.
