POSITION ID 3835 ROLE FUNCTION Network and Infrastructure Engineer TASKS Operation and maintenance of client Operational Network Infrastructure ONI and Information and Communications Technology ICT network The Operation and maintenance of client Operational Network Infrastructure ONI and Information and Communications Technology ICT network service shall comprise the following tasks Provision of support, as required, to critical operations. Anomaly handling and troubleshooting. Monitoring of the communications infrastructure performance, issues investigation and the relevant corrective actions. Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures for the automated andor controlled execution of the network maintenance and upgrade activities. Generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades. Ensure that in case of communications HW or SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures. Perform software upgrades to the vendor recommended version. Create the necessary documentation to carry out Engineering Changes ECs. Perform the required Engineering Changes EC following the EC client process. Network infrastructure, services and solutions low level design specification The Network infrastructure, services and solutions low level design specification shall comprise of the following tasks Specification of new networking customer, user, or business needs. Specification, setup and running of Proofofconcept prototype in comms lab. Rollout planning and scheduling including deployment, migration, integration, verification and validation tasks. Network infrastructure, services and solutions deployment implementation The Network infrastructure, services and solutions deployment implementation service shall comprise of the following Installation, configuration and deployment of new network equipment. Creation of the necessary documentation to implement the Engineering Changes ECs. Perform integration and verification testing. Perform the handover to production and support the customeruser validation. Produce and update documentation Evolution and upgrade of the current network infrastructure, services and solutions The evolution and upgrade of the current network infrastructure, services and solutions shall comprise of the following Design of evolutions of the existent networks Analysis, planning and performance of communications infrastructure HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems. Ensure compliance of the evolutions with the applicable security requirements. Provide equipment specification and costs estimation, provide service specification, and compile detailed equipment lists. Monitor and identify the licenses that are due to expire and inform client so that they are timely renewedupdated. Interface to hardware repair and COTS support maintenance providers The Interface to hardware repair and COTS support maintenance providers comprises the following task Technical liaison with the external providers of communications infrastructure HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions. REQUIRED SKILLS University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Experience of network engineering in such environments throughout its lifecycle, from identification of needs to deployment and operations. Experience of carrying out specifying, preparing, planning and executing network engineering activities, including their coordination and technical guidance, working with other engineers within and outside the team involved in the activities, and with the customersusers and other stakeholders. Indepth knowledge of Cisco technology and solutions for these environments. Extensive experience in administration and troubleshooting of communications infrastructure systems and Wide Area Networks WANs Expert knowledge and significant work experience with CISCO equipment, Network Management Systems, network security, and particularly software defined programmable networks and other new technologies Good understanding of incident and anomaly management processes Experience in operational or production environment with high availability requirements. Ability to present verbally and in writing network solutions and systems in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to explain relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects. Ability to translate IT jargon into customer business terms. Experience of interacting with suppliers of network products and service providers as part of network infrastructure, services and solutions development and deployment. Experience of configuring and operating network management and monitoring systems such as Netbrain or SolarWinds. Ability to automate network routine monitoring and maintenance tasks. Experience of supporting procurements of network systems and services. Ability to work well in a team.
