Ethio Telecom splits network infrastructure into five divisions

(Telecompaper) Ethio Telecom has split its network infrastructure department into five divisions for service efficiency as it prepares to remain competitive after the liberalisation of the telecom sector, reports Addis Fortune. The country's sole telecom operator is also hoping to lease its infrastructure to the two operators that are expected to join the industry in 2021. It plans to generate income by renting out its 7,100 towers and over 22,000 km of fibre optics to interested telecom operators.

Perform the required Engineering Changes EC following the EC client process. Network infrastructure, services and solutions low level design specification The Network infrastructure, services and solutions low level design specification shall comprise of the following tasks Specification of new networking customer, user, or business needs. Specification, setup and running of Proofofconcept prototype in comms lab. Rollout planning and scheduling including deployment, migration, integration, verification and validation tasks. Network infrastructure, services and solutions deployment implementation The Network infrastructure, services and solutions deployment implementation service shall comprise of the following Installation, configuration and deployment of new network equipment. Creation of the necessary documentation to implement the Engineering Changes ECs. Perform integration and verification testing. Perform the handover to production and support the customeruser validation. Produce and update documentation Evolution and upgrade of the current network infrastructure, services and solutions The evolution and upgrade of the current network infrastructure, services and solutions shall comprise of the following Design of evolutions of the existent networks Analysis, planning and performance of communications infrastructure HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems. Ensure compliance of the evolutions with the applicable security requirements. Provide equipment specification and costs estimation, provide service specification, and compile detailed equipment lists. Monitor and identify the licenses that are due to expire and inform client so that they are timely renewedupdated. Interface to hardware repair and COTS support maintenance providers The Interface to hardware repair and COTS support maintenance providers comprises the following task Technical liaison with the external providers of communications infrastructure HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions. REQUIRED SKILLS University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Experience of network engineering in such environments throughout its lifecycle, from identification of needs to deployment and operations. Experience of carrying out specifying, preparing, planning and executing network engineering activities, including their coordination and technical guidance, working with other engineers within and outside the team involved in the activities, and with the customersusers and other stakeholders. Indepth knowledge of Cisco technology and solutions for these environments. Extensive experience in administration and troubleshooting of communications infrastructure systems and Wide Area Networks WANs Expert knowledge and significant work experience with CISCO equipment, Network Management Systems, network security, and particularly software defined programmable networks and other new technologies Good understanding of incident and anomaly management processes Experience in operational or production environment with high availability requirements. Ability to present verbally and in writing network solutions and systems in a comprehensible way, with the specific ability to explain relevant details while keeping the focus on the overall system aspects. Ability to translate IT jargon into customer business terms. Experience of interacting with suppliers of network products and service providers as part of network infrastructure, services and solutions development and deployment. Experience of configuring and operating network management and monitoring systems such as Netbrain or SolarWinds. Ability to automate network routine monitoring and maintenance tasks. Senior Engineer, Network Infrastructure USA Manassas The Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer is a role in the SES Networks Operations Engineering group in which the candidate is responsible for the management and enhancement of the production Global Network Infrastructure. The engineer will gain a broad knowledge of the SES Networks product range as well as SES Networks global core infrastructure. The primary objective of this role is to ensure SES Networks customers are provided the highest quality service throughout their lifecycle. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Responsible for SES Networks Core infrastructure operation and enhancement. Develop procedures and training materials for the Network Operations Centre.
