Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking experienced system Integration and Verification Engineers for the Sentinel 6 Jason CS S6JCS space mission system and ground segment GS. The S6JCS GS is a complex system of systems and comprises all the elements that will be used to carry out mission operations and payload data acquisition, processing, dissemination and archival, as well as all the supporting infrastructure, sites and functionality to carry out the full operations, such as monitoring, communications and other services. The scope of this position is to perform integration and verification IV of the EUMETSAT S6JCS GS components and to contribute to their validation. The complete S6JCS GS will be built up progressively in several tranches with four tranche test campaigns for the S6JCS GS currently planned. Integration is performed on a pairwise approach with the interfaces between each pair of components being implemented and verified. Verification is based on a multilevel, multistage approach, with verification of requirements. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Support to IV activities management and planning Preparatory activities for the integration campaign for each tranche Preparatory activities for the verification campaign at GS level for each tranche Preparatory activities for the verification campaign at system level for each tranche Integration execution activities for each tranche campaign GS requirements verification activities for each tranche campaign System requirements verification activities for each tranche campaign This is a fulltime position to be located at Eumetsats premises in Darmstadt with the planned start in as soon as possible. Occasional travel to locations within Europe may be expected. Outofhours standby and callout support is also included. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree or equivalent in a discipline relevant to the job profile. Suitably qualified persons are typically system and software engineers familiar with satellite monitoring and control, satellite data processing and ground station operations, and experienced in ground segment and system integration and verification. We require persons with as many of the following skills as possible General skills Proven ability in integration and verification of complex systems Requirements and verification management Structured software development and verification Software maintenance, performance monitoring ECSS standards Configuration control Applications knowledge Satellite communications packet TMTC, PUS, SLE protocol Mission planning and control functions Satellite monitoring and control e.g. SCOS2000 Near realtime, Earth observation data processing, archiving, distribution Specificproduct skills Operating systems UNIXLinux and Windows Networking Internet protocols, TCPIP programming, network monitoring Automated software testing Requirements and verification management using DOORS Meteorological data formats HDF5, NetCDF, JPEG2000 Programming languages CC, Java, Javascript, XML, Perl, TclTk Relational databases MySQL, Oracle You shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan your work and cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. You shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. You shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies.
