Post Software Product Assurance Engineer This post is classified A2A4 on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Software Product Assurance Engineer in the Software Product Assurance Section, Quality, Dependability and PA Support Division, Product Assurance and Safety Department, Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality. The Software Product Assurance SW PA Section provides functional support to ESA projects and is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of SW PA expertise and standards. It carries out technological research RD in the fields of SW PA requirements, techniques, methodologies and tools. It also collaborates in standardisation and training activities. Duties Reporting to the Head of Section and within the technical fields described above, the main tasks and responsibilities of the post holder will include providing expert technical support and consultancy to ESA projects, programmes and general studies in the field of SW PA throughout all project phases preparing and implementing general programmatic and technical SW PA requirements aligned with Agency standards and specifications establishing projectspecific programmatic and technical SW PA requirements based on the ESA product assurance baseline supporting projects in evaluating contractor documentation and efforts proposed for the execution of SW PA programmes supporting projects in monitoring contractor SW PA programme execution to ensure compliance with SW PA requirements established for projects evaluating proposed concepts, designs and operations for compliance with defined SW PA requirements defining, initiating and managing RD activities SW PA requirements, techniques, methodologies and tools covering longshortterm needs performing audits of contractors and their inhouse standards for compliance with ESA requirements and assessing the maturity of contractor software processes liaising with related engineering and product assurance specialists for overlapping fields of activity monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining stateoftheart expertise contributing to dissemination of the results of the activities performed and the transfer of knowledge across the Agency. Technical competencies General background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position Understanding of related technologies, RD trends and the industrial landscape Project support experience in a relevant domain Experience with the application of SW product assurance tools and methods Experience in the management and monitoring of industrial activities, including participation in reviews Experience with Space Quality Standards and their preparation and implementation Behavioural competencies Communication Teamwork Customer Focus Problem Solving Results Orientation Planning Organisation Education A Masters degree or equivalent qualification in computer science, mathematics or software engineering is required. Additional requirements Experience in at least three of the following areas software product assurance in critical realtime applications, software engineering, software configuration management, dependability assessment of software intensive systems, software development and maintenance, software process assessment and auditing. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance by their national security administration. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
