For over 35 years we have worked in the Space industry delivering complex, missioncritical space systems. We work on the major European navigation, communication and earth observation programmes and are specialists in space security and ground control systems. CGI are currently seeking Spacecraft Operations Engineers for future opportunities within the European Space agencys Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Working within a small team of highly motivated engineers you will take ownership of a set of the spacecraft subsystems to prepare and validate the Flight Operations Procedures, prepare inputs for LEOP and commissioning timeline and prepare for and conduct System Validation Tests SVT in readiness for launch. During the launch the Spacecraft Operations Engineers, as part of a broader Mission control Team, perform a crucial role in monitoring and commanding the spacecraft in these critical early phases to ensure that the spacecraft reaches its designated orbit in the expected state to perform its mission. As a Spacecraft Operations engineer you will be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including crossvalidation of procedures, test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Spacecraft Operations Engineers are primarily assigned to a particular mission within mission families including Earth Observation, Astronomy, Science and Navigation. Typically you may be called upon from time to time to support other missions within these families, allowing you to develop your skills and grow your career beyond the operational lifetime of any one mission. Tasks Study the spacecrafts specific characteristics and the associated ground segment documentation Participate in the analysis and design of the spacecraft operations Prepare of flight control procedures for both nominal and contingency conditions Provide support to the mission management and mission planning Produce project specific Software Validation and Satellite Interface Validation Tests SVT Prepare procedures for, participate to and generate reports of SVTs Participate in the System Operations Validation Test SOV, training and simulation programmes Participation in Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP and mission critical operations Preparation of and participation in the spacecraft commissioning phase Perform spacecraft performance analysis Profile The ideal candidate for a Spacecraft Operations Engineering Role at ESOC will possess a deep understanding of one or more of the following spacecraft subsystems Data Handling Power and Thermal Attitude and Orbit Control Telemetry, Tracking and Control Spacecraft Payloads In addition the following skills are considered to be mandatory Hands on familiarity with operational tools including Spacecraft Mission Control Systems MCS based on SCOS or similar Spacecraft Simulators based on SIMSAT or equivalent Operational Preparation Tools, E.g. MOIS The ability to work in an organised manner, with good reporting skills An ability to work to tight deadlines Familiarity with working in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments across multiple locations Fluency in English. In addition the following skills and experience will be considered an advantage Handson familiarity in SVT and flight procedures development Experience in Ground segment validation, Experience with the use of ancillary applications and tools such as GFTS, GDDS etc. Familiarity with the ESOC environment
