Systems Engineer operations Sentinel3 mf The Mission Sentinel3 is an earth observation mission to collect both oceanographic and land surface measurements from two low earth orbiting satellites. The Challenge Terma is looking for an experienced systems engineer to support our customer, the European Space Operation Centre, with the launch and early orbit operations, including preparatory activities. Primary responsibility lies in the areas of spacecraft operations engineering or, more specifically concerning Failure detection, identification and recovery Interfaces between the onboard software and both the attitude orbit control subsystem and, in addition, applicable instruments Implementationexecution of the commissioning plan In addition, the systems engineer operations may be asked to support other tasks on the Sentinel3, or other missions. For instance Validation, test and operation of the mission control system, including the onboard software management and mission planning system Validation, test and operation of the simulator Generation, validation and maintenance of the flight operation procedures Support the flight operation system procurement, integration and tests Support the interfaces with external partners industry, payload data ground segment, CNES, EUMETSAT Review of satellite documents Launch and early orbit phase support to the spacecraft operations manager and his deputy This is a full time position, located in Darmstadt, Germany, and is provisionally scheduled to start on 1st January 2015. Your Qualifications We seek a selfmotivated person, comfortable cooperating with others and equally able to independently toward seeing a problem through to solution. Essential skills are Experience in spacecraft system operations, including failure detection, identification and recovery both hardware and software Experience with the interfaces between platform and software, attitude orbit and control subsystem and payload instruments Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including preparation of high level plans timelines, phase dependent plans Experience with the organization andor execution of tests involving both ground and space segment Experience with Packet Utilization Standard Experience with the ESOC environment Experience with satellite control systems, in particular SCOS2000 Experience with low Earth orbit satellites Experience with operational simulators, especially the ones based on SimSat Experience with anomaly investigations Experience in working in an operational environment Ability to understand and accurately predict behavior of complex systems Ability to work independently and with little supervision Wellorganized, able to priorities and manage several activities in parallel Coordinate and interact with other service providers in operations and other fields Fluency in English, both in speech and writing Experience dealing with external international partners Desirable skills are Familiarity preparing, implementing and executing operations for scientific instruments Familiarity with multi satellite missions Familiarity with operational support tools EDDS, MUST, etc. University degree in aerospace engineering, computer science or other relevant subject Terma offers At Terma, we consider skilled employees, enthusiasm and job satisfaction as the very foundation of our success and as a prerequisite for the development of the bestinclass solutions that Terma provides.
