DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Ida was located near latitude 21.7 North, longitude 45.3 West. Ida is moving toward the north-northwest near 3 mph (6 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue today. A turn toward the northwest with a slight increase in forward speed is forecast tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Ida is expected to become a remnant low over the weekend.
