DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Douglas was located near latitude 12.1 North, longitude 125.4 West. Douglas is moving toward the west-southwest near 15 mph (24 km/h). A turn toward the west at a slightly slower forward speed is expected by this evening, followed by a turn toward the west-northwest and some acceleration late Wednesday. The west-northwestward motion is forecast to continue at least through Friday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Douglas could become a hurricane later today or tonight. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
