DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 PM AST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gaston was located near latitude 14.7 North, longitude 37.1 West. Gaston is moving toward the west-northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h). A gradual turn toward the northwest is forecast over the next 48 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gaston is likely to become a hurricane on Wednesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
