DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gaston was located near latitude 16.1 North, longitude 39.4 West. Gaston is moving toward the northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds remain near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Although Gaston could become a hurricane today, some weakening is forecast on Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
