DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 300 AM MDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Norbert was located near latitude 22.1 North, longitude 113.3 West. Norbert is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h). A northwestward motion with a gradual decrease in forward speed is expected through tonight. A slower northwestward to north-northwestward motion is forecast on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected this morning, but the tropical storm is forecast to begin weakening by later today. Norbert is forecast to become a remnant low tonight or early Thursday, and dissipate by Thursday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
