DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Paul was located near latitude 18.5 North, longitude 118.7 West. Paul is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h). This general motion will likely continue for the next couple of days, followed by a turn toward the west-northwest by the middle of the week. Maximum sustained winds are now estimated to be 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast for the next day or so. Gradual weakening is expected to begin by Tuesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
