Bangladesh Apparel Exports in Full 2018 (Quarterly Report)

Apparel exports from Bangladesh could now rapidly slow down, after surging in the past year. The fall of the euro and the decline of retail sales in Europe have already depressed EU's demand whatever the duty-free access still offered to Bangladeshi exporters. The sharp increase of minimum wages in the country could trigger a rise of export prices whereas security issues are far from being fully fixed, according to recent reports. Our statistical tables provide a comprehensive view of Bangladesh's clothing exports over the last years, also covering the latest US and EU apparel import data per product category. Volume, value and unit price changes are released with all data available for download.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Viscose fiber and spun yarn prices have continued dropping in China with VSF however stabilizing in the past days. Cotton fiber and yarn prices are no more moving, but they could rebound after inventories will have been digested. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. US apparel imports from China have remained strong in the past year, as anticipations of higher US tariffs have boosted shipments and unit values have declined overall. By contrast, other Asian countries like Vietnam are obviously confronted with a rise of their production costs and slowing down exports to the United States. Results have however been radically different, depending on product categories and origins. The report also includes a detailed comparison of Chinese price trends vs other origins, through a series of indexes. Cotton fiber and yarn prices are mostly rising in the current period in China, India and Pakistan, whereas the polyester market stays stable and viscose heavily falls, with slight differences depending on products and locations, however. US Apparel Imports in 2018: China vs. Rest of World (Quarterly Report)

China has been able to resist competition from other nations in many product categories of the US apparel import market in 2018. Unit prices of Chinese exports have further declined, especially in cotton apparel categories. This is reflected by our statistical review comparing US apparel imports from China with shipments from Rest of the World (RoW) for every category of products, in volume, value and unit value terms. Historical data cover the past five years, from 2013-2018.
