China's share of the European Union's clothing imports has sharply dropped in the third quarter of the year in volume terms, as Chinese unit prices were further soaring. Bangladesh has continued taking advantage of China's setback whereas the surge in shipments from Myanmar or Cambodia has followed the relocation of Chinese apparel industry to low-cost countries in Asia. Polyester Fiber Prices in China, India and Pakistan (Weekly Report)

Far from stabilizing, polyester fiber prices could now decline to lower levels in line with a sharp fall of intermediate prices this week in China. Demand is being lowered all over the polyester pipeline, as processors try limiting their stocks ahead of a full trade war between US and China. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.

India Yarn Prices: Domestic and Export Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton prices are now more clearly falling in India, in line with the seasonal rise of cotton arrivals from the new crop. Spun yarn prices are slightly dropping, as a consequence. The decline remains limited with cotton prices expected staying firm. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). China's yarn market remains very depressed with operating rates being progressively lowered at spinning and weaving mills in order to limit the fall of prices and margins. Spun polyester and viscose prices have sharply dropped, in line with the decline of fiber prices. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang).
