EU's clothing imports have less significantly declined in December, with Chinese shipments falling at a slower pace. The weakness of the euro has continued taking its toll on the level in imports in 2019, as unit values were rising in euro terms, although kept stable in dollar terms. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs. Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs. woven clothing. Data are supplied in euros and US dollars with historical data available for download, back to January 2000.

Polyester intermediate prices have stayed firm in the last week in Asia, where operating rates are being slashed, in the absence of significant demand from downward producers. Fiber and textile production are expected to slowly return to normal in China until the end of March. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices.
