PTA prices have continued to decline in the past seven days in the Far East, over a rise in production capacities in the last months. PTA and paraxylene producers are confronted with a dramatic fall in their operating profits, amid surging international competition. Polyester prices could slide to lower levels as a result. Cotton yarn prices could now drop further in China, where cotton fiber prices are eventually declining and demand is depressed from downward processors. Stagnating clothing sales at retail and falling apparel exports will force many spinning mills to shut down until after lunar year holidays. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang).
