Recycled Polyester Prices in China (Monthly Report)

Recycled polyester prices have more significantly dropped than virgin polyester prices in the past weeks in China, over a weakness in demand, and whatever the fall in production. The limited price advantage of recycled fibers is no more supporting demand, whereas the demand for sustainable products in the United States and in Europe has not reached the Chinese market yet. Our report covers the recycled polyester PSF and POY prices in China over the past three years. Re-PSF and Re-POY prices are compared with similar virgin fiber prices for PSF and POY prices. Weekly prices, as well as indices over 3-month and 4-year periods, are available for download.

Textile Fiber Price Comparison (Monthly Report)

The textile fiber prices have stabilized in the past weeks, as cotton prices were no more rising on the international market, whereas polyester prices have stopped dropping. Viscose and nylon 6 prices have significantly declined, however. Polyester prices are not expected to decline further in December in China, as production should be reduced by maintenance operations. The weakness in demand could limit any recovery in prices, however. Our weekly report covers the Polyester Staple Fiber (PSF) on the domestic markets in China, India, and Pakistan. Polyester filament prices in China are also released, whereas the report includes a price comparison of polyester with cotton and viscose in China.

Spun yarn prices have continued to rise in the past week in India, although fiber prices are currently declining. The poor quality of the new crop is forcing spinners in importing cotton from other origins, whereas cotton exports are struggling at the same time. Our weekly review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester, and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centers are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab).
