Inflation in Emerging Countries (Monthly Report)

Inflation rates are stable in emerging countries, however staying at very different levels depending on origins. Turkey and Pakistan are confronted with high inflation rates, but a dramatic fall in their currencies is more than offsetting the negative effect for exporters. As reflected by our price model, inflation rates may be quite different after being converted into US$ or euro terms. Our monthly report offers a comparison of inflation rates in low-cost countries, with historical data available back to June 2007. Impact of currency changes vs. the US dollar, the euro, and the Sterling is also calculated to assess real terms of trade for exporters.

Polyester Chain Prices: PX, PTA, MEG and Fiber Prices (Weekly Report)

Polyester intermediate prices have moved into opposite directions in the past seven days, with PTA further declining, whereas MEG was rising. Demand remains subdued from downward polyester users, and operating rates are bein cut at fiber plants. Our weekly report covers the polyester chain in Asia, including PX (paraxylene), PTA (purified terephthalic acid), MEG (mono-ethylene glycol), polyester chips, and polyester staple and filament prices. Asian Contract Prices (ACPs) are also available for the PX, PTA and MEG markets in Asia, with 5-year charts and downloadable historical data.

Cotton Prices on International and Domestic Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton prices have last week further collapsed before suddenly recovering on Friday, over the rumor of an imminent trade agreement between China and the United States. Prices could, however, continue to fall in New York, before rebounding when short speculators will take their profits. We have below added a new table with average rates in the last months in New York, including in month-to-date. Our weekly cotton report covers the futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". Domestic cotton prices in China, India, and Pakistan are also reviewed through a large number of tables and charts. All data are available for download.

China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Spun yarn prices have further fallen in the past seven days in China, over a weakness in demand. Seasonal trends should now favor spinners, however, as inventories also need to be replenished, and yarn import prices are not very competitive. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose, and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.
