A vacancy for a Data Processing Avionics Architecture Engineer Preliminary Projects mf has arisen at Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse. The successful applicant will join the Data Processing OnBoard Software department TSOEF25 and will be in charge of supplying data processing and avionics architecture expertise to the project teams based on a statement of need for the mission onboard data processing or avionics, analysing the need and proposing the most appropriate data processing and avionics architecture cost, weight, power from a set of solutions available from internal or external suppliers. You will also be responsible for the following activities Targeting the most appropriate processing architecture FPGA, single core or multicore processors, DSP processor, etc. Having a good understanding of algorithms signal and image processing Being proactive in making suggestions and able to emphasise the advantages of an innovation or new technology Following up the development of a prototype and ensuring the entire system is coherent algorithm, performance to fulfil the mission need. This position is fulltime and unlimited and fully located on customer side in EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany. The submission deadline for applicants is 12.01.2016 and the expected start date will be FebruaryMarch 2016. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES Duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operation and maintenance currently in the preparation phase, the analysis, and testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. Act as the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual SW Facilities into a data processing system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including endtoend testing of the production system. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of specific monitoring tools for S3. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE Software engineer with minimum 1 year experience in maintenance of Earth Observation PDGS L0 and L1 processing Facilities. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Experience in maintaining and engineering of evolutions of large scale software systems for processing Earth Observation satellite instrument data. Experience in software development lifecycles. Competence in SW testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation. CCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment. Software debugging and profiling tools e.g. GDB, DBX, IBM Purify, Valgrind. Knowledge of Scripting languages Python, Perl, TclTk, shell. Source code control systems preferably Subversion. DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience with DFEP processors as used by S3 and LO processing within a framework based solution PDGS for S3. Knowledge of the ESA generic Instrument Processing Facility IPF interface specification. Networking technologies and tools CCSDS protocols, Space Data Link Protocols, TCPIP, UDP multicast, PGM, FTP, Wireshark.
