Relocation assistance provided if applicable. Main responsibilities For our activities in ESA, we are currently looking for a GNSS Propagation and SBAS Processing Design Engineer EGNOS. The general responsibilities of the candidate will be technical support in the area of GNSS signal propagation and associated SBAS algorithms design, in particular for those effects linked the signal crossing the Earths atmospheric layers i.e. ionosphere and troposphere and those related the local reception environment e.g. multipath and interference SBAS processing algorithms designed at SBAS level to provide satellites orbits and clock corrections, ionosphere delay corrections and their associated integrity confidence information GNSS threats impact modelling at SBAS level Specific tasks will include Engineering support to the coordination and critical assessment of all propagation and associated SBAS impact design related issues within EGNOS Project Office including algorithm assessment and recommendations Engineering support to the critical assessment of SBASs processing algorithms, in particular for those related to mitigating the impact of scintillation, ionosphere temporal and spatial TEC gradients and interference and for those related to improve the overall SBAS system monitoring availability Engineering support to the critical assessment of GNSS threats impact modelling definition and justification at SBASs level Engineering Support to the animation of an international technical subgroup e.g. contributing to IWG Technical Subgroup related to GNSS and Ionospheric modelling and processing e.g. for ionosphere TEC temporal and spatial gradients and scintillations Participation and contribution to multimodal e.g. Aviation, Maritime GNSS standardisation groups for what concerns GNSS signal propagation effects modelling and processing e.g. scintillation, multipath Engineering Support to the management of several RD projects related to GNSS signal propagation e.g. MONITOR, Multipath Studies, Interference mitigation Engineering Support to the preparation and validation of ionospheric and scintillation model data and delivery to EGNOS V2V3Evolutions Contractors Engineering Support to the coordination with respect to GNSS signal propagation related subjects modelling of the navigation propagation signals using stateof theart software tools and databases modelling of ionospheric propagation conditions and their effects on SBAS satellite navigation missions Support the definition of campaigns to serve RD and other EGNOS project needs e.g. for scintillation monitoring Support in the planning and execution of RD activities as well as in managing the necessary software tools and databases related to IONO modelling and processing Engineering support to several projects, the service provider will attend project reviews for EGNOS e.g. V2V3 system and subsystem reviews at algorithm level. Ideal candidate General skills Fluent English language oral and written Fluent in French language oral is desirable Autonomy in writing technical notes, specifications and reports in English Good inter personal skills and team spirit Previous working experience in a multinational environment Good knowledge of MS office tools Good knowledge of DOORs Organization, good practical sense, being able to work effectively in a team and be able to autonomously take decision in his field of responsibility Availability and willingness to travel for missions inside or outside Europe. Specific skills PhD or Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, physics or Computer science with proven knowledge and experience in the fields of Algorithms, Navigation and related data Should have minimum 4 years of relevant work experience Knowledge and experience in EGNOS standards e.g. MOPSSARPS Knowledge and experience in GNSS threats impact models and a RD projects Experiences in, procurement of industrial activities Knowledge and experience in using and assessing EGNOS performance simulations and tools. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Onboard Payload Data Processing Engineer in the OnBoard Payload Data Processing Section, Data Systems Microelectronics Division of the Electrical Engineering Department, Directorate of Technical and Quality Management. The OnBoard Payload Data Processing Section provides functional support to ESA projects and carries out technological research RD in the field of onboard payload data acquisition, handling, processing and storage. This domain covers the functions between the signal acquisition sensor and the modulator for the data transmission, including, but not limited to, data acquisition chains, data processing units, instrument controllers, mass memories and high speed networks for data transmission and command and control.
