Data Processing Operations Engineer

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Data Processing Operations Engineer to support the Routine Operations phases of the Meteosat Second Generation MSG, Meteosat Transition MTP and EUMETSAT Polar System EPS Programmes as a Data Processing Operations Engineer Consultancy Support. The key person shall work in the Real time Services and System Operations RSO Division of the Operations and Services to Users Department as a member of the Data Processing Operations DPO Team supporting the operations of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. The key person shall also support the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecraft and the preparations for the Meteosat Third Generation. The key person may support the further development of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems. Tasks The tasks of the key person will typically include Supporting routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems, including Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processing operations Providing Standby callout support. Supporting the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems, including the specification and validation of system updates Supporting the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecrafts Supporting the preparations for Meteosat Third Generation Attendance at technical meetings Participation in formal reviews. Qualifications and Requirements Essential In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have A minimum of 3 years experience in the realtime acquisition, Level 0 processing and Level 1 processing of data andor Level 2 processing of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Experience with UNIXLinux operating systems. Desirable Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Programming Languages e.g. C, C and Fortran Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Knowledge andor experience of geophysical remote sensing data processing, e.g. Image Navigation and Registration INR, radiometric correction, calibration algorithms and retrieval of geophysical parameters. The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Fluency in English is mandatory and a working knowledge of French would be an advantage, together with good communication skills.

Image processing system engineer for small satellites

In charge of developing a realtime pose estimation software system to process imagery i.e., computer vision captured by a small satellite. Design algorithms for position and attitude estimation based on imagery taken by a small satellite in Earth orbit. Involves skill such as feature extraction and model matching. Generate prototypes inhouse, as well as coordination with external software developers vendors. Conduct groundbased verification and validation on the entire image processing system including optical sensors and processing hardware. Generate test plan and conduct procurement as necessary. Supervise any tests at external sites. Manage interface between image processing system and other satellite onboard subsystems, such as the attitude and orbit control system AOCS and command and data handling CDH. Manage interface between image processing system and the onground mission control system. Required Research PhD and above or workplace experience in any of the following computer vision SLAM machine learning object and feature recognition motion and pose estimation Able to prototype algorithms listed above C, Python, MATLAB, etc. Intermediate English communication abilities TOEIC 700. Able to understand the customer and support technical discussions in English.
