Senior AOCSGNC Architect

It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Senior AOCSGNC Architect has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. The successful applicant will join the Flight Dynamics and AOCSGNC Department. The AOCS Architect is responsible for ensuring AOCS development activities are performed on quality, on time and on cost. You will ensure that AOCS activities are properly coordinated across the whole project, that agreed schedule is maintained, and that all activities are successfully completed within the defined budgets. You will be expected to guide, review and approve AOCSGNC design and analysis activities through the full engineering lifecycle from initial concept design through to support to validation, producing the associated documentation design justifications, SW requirements for AOCSGNC algorithms, performance analysis documentation etc.. The AOCS architect also proactively manages the subcontract. The job is a challenging and exciting mix of systems engineering including HW sensors and actuators knowhow, control engineering, project management and subcontract management. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Responsibility for managing the subcontractor in what relates to the Spacecraft AOCS System Design, Development, Implementation, Performance and Validation. SupportingShadow the procurement of the AOCS sensors actuators, checking approving performance analyses, and supporting the Software and System Validation Verification with Hardware in the loop. Analyse the Functional Verification test results and assess if the AOCS verification is achieved. Support the Software Architect during the Software reviews on items related to AOCS. Interface with customer, systems engineering team, project management and subcontractors. Control AOCS budget and schedule, define risks and risk mitigation strategies. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Good degree or equivalent in Dynamics and Control Engineering or MathematicsPhysics Qualifications with Electrical andor Mechanical content Proven experience within the Space industry including AOCSGNC Team leading experience and leadership skills Significant Matlab and Simulink experience Mathematical modelling Computer simulations Software development in C or C Proven experience in Subcontract management Package management cost control processes Experience managing a lot of interfaces General computer literacy, including MS Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to interact comfortably within a team environment. A vacancy for an Attitude and Orbit Control system AOCSGuidance Navigation and Control GNC Advanced Engineer mf have arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. The studies engineer will be in charge of AOCSGNC studies for satellite and space projects in development phase. The projects cover all applicative domains Earth Observation e.g. Pleiades, Spot 67, CSO, Science missions e.g. Rosetta, Bepicolombo, or Geostationary telecommunication satellites e.g. SES Astra, Arabsat, etc.. Within this context, you will be in charge of the following activities for programmes in development phase Design of AOCSGNC estimation and control laws, and all associated onboard algorithms requirements engineering for AOCS functional chain mission, environment, spacecraft dynamics characteristics, avionics equipment performances, analysis and tradeoffs of control solutions, preliminary performances on functional simulators Definition and specification of representative modelling of sensors and actuators, covering functional, performance and dynamics aspects, to be used within the Functional Validation Bench simulator running AOCS flight software in closedloop Specification of onboard algorithms for the software team, functional validation of the FVB simulator Tuning of flight software functional parameters, establishment of detailed functional budgets pointing, stability, consumption, etc. Validation of functional performances, by intensive validation campaigns on the FVB simulator. Definition of and execution support for reference validation cases used during later development stages, avionics test bench and AIT Participation in Launch and Early Operation phases as AOCS specialist, functional expertise support for inorbit maintenance operations throughout satellite lifecycle. You have an Engineering diploma or a Masters degree with a specialisation in Space andor Automatic Control, with initial experience or a significant internship in a similar position in the avionicsGNC field. You also have skills in allsome of the following technical fields Automatic control and signal filtering, modelling and simulation Basics of space flight dynamics Knowledge of MatlabSimulink tools for modelling and functional simulation Knowledge of AOCSGNC system design realtime implementation. An advanced level of English and French is required for this position.
