Summary A brand new opportunity for a Systems Engineer experienced in the Earth Observation EO domain to work on AIVAIT as a contractor on site at ESTEC. Objective To provide engineering support to the ESA and JAXA EarthCARE Mission, from the satellite, instrument and platform performance, through AIVAIT plans and procedures review and coordination, test campaigns, failure investigations to the satellite launch campaign as well as preparation and execution of the LEOP and routine operations phase. Responsibilities Duties The successful contractor will be expected to Provide satellite level system engineering support covering satellite, instrument and platform level performance, both the functional and environmental aspects. Review and coordinate AIVAIT plans and procedures, and support subsequent discussions with the industrial consortium on the findings, in coordination with specialist engineering and AITAIV support from TEC. Support the definition, coordination and execution of the satellite level functional and environmental test campaigns, including presence at the prime Contractor premises or environmental test facilities as needed. Coordinate the contributions and participation of specialist engineering and AITAIV support from TEC and perform engineering assessment of the resulting outputs. Support any failure investigations, including providing specialist support and engineering assessment to the investigations and participation to NonConformance Review Boards. Coordinate the review of Satellite level, platform level and instrument level Verification Control Documents and coordinate specific Verification Control Boards. Coordinate the review and validation of Flight Operations Manuals and Flight Operations Procedures, in close cooperation with instrument and platform engineers, specialist TEC support, ESOC and industry operations teams. Participate in the simulations campaigns in preparation of LEOP and Commissioning activities and coordinate participation of other specialist teams. Assist in the satellite launch campaign. Support the preparation and execution of the LEOP and Commissioning phases, as well as preparation for the routine operations phase. Qualifications Experience University Masters degree, or equivalent, in Engineering or related discipline. Experience in space projects and associated technology developments, particularly within the EO domain. Essential Skills Experience in satellite AIVAIT and environmental testing Good knowledge of the technical requirements, procedures and standards related to spacecraft projects Experience in coordinating internalexternal stakeholders on scientific projects Experience with and strong knowledge of satellite level systems engineering in EO missions Understanding of the goals and aims of the EarthCARE mission Qualities Ability to promote cooperation and teamwork Methodical, and proactive, attitude to solving problems Good English language skills Good organizational, and communication, skills.
