EarthCARE Data Quality Engineer

You will have the opportunity to provide support the EarthCARE phase DE1 Data Quality Manager, and the EarthCARE PDGS Project Manager, covering all aspects related to Operational L2 processors and algorithms, CalVal and L2 products monitoring. It shall cover phase D and E1 of the mission. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include You will provide Management Support and assistance to the SPPA EarthCARE Data Quality Manager PreparationMaintenance of EarthCARE L2 and CalVal managerial documentation e.g. implementation plans Preparation of contractual documentation e.g. SoWs and CCNs and AOs Management of industries in charge of L2 algorithm subsystems development and L2 product quality related activities e.g. SPPA FRM and network projects Planning and Preparation of documentation for the phase E2 L2 related data quality activities including L2 processor maintenance and evolution as well as product validation and monitoring You will be supporting the PDGS Project for the acceptance EarthCARE level 2 Processors You will be reviewing documentation from various sources ESA, Industry, CalVal community You will be participating the Ground Segment Reviews and PDGS reviews organised either by ESA or by Industry You will be managing the review item discrepancies, system or software problem reports and action linked to L2 and CalVal activities You will be generating technical notes whenever needed during the relevant project phases You will be operating the various supporting tools for the part relevant to L2 and CalVal related activities e.g. Documentation Management System and Action Tracking You will be supporting the operators training and preparation of operational documentation for the phase E2 data quality management You will be supporting the definition and documentation of the PDGS Commissioning Implementation Plan and procedures for the relevant PDGS subsystems You will be supporting the preparation of the launch and the implementation of rehearsal activities for CalVal and L2 applications You will be supporting the definition of ICMF Operations, monitoring and reporting during commissioning related to level 2 products You will be supporting the definition of monitoring concept and associated monitoring database for EarthCARE level 2 products You will be supporting the definition of quality reports for the EarthCARE level 2 products You will be analyzing the Quality control results and reporting during commissioning You will be in charge of the definition and evolution of products Quality Control and Instruments Monitoring baselines You will be supporting the processing algorithms definition and review You will be supporting the calibration strategy and algorithms definition and review You will be supporting the products format definition You will be participating the EarthCARE Mission Advisory Groups and Quality Working Groups Adhoc development of tools for the accomplishment of the PDGS subsystems engineering, testing and validation, etc. You will be planning Workshop Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have an University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in Remote Sensing and Earth Observation You have a good understanding of and background in geophysical sciences andor specific instruments relevant to the EarthCARE mission You have experience in retrieval algorithm development You have experience in data quality control and product validation You have experience in validation and calibration activities You have programming skills e.g. MatLab or Python in order to develop tools for the accomplishment of the engineering, testing and validation activities You are fluent in English language oral and written You demonstrate autonomy in writing technical notes, specifications and reports in English You have good interpersonal skills and team spirit The following skills would be highly desirable You have knowledge of the ESA Earth Explorers missions and instruments and processes related to their PDGS development You have experience in operational processors development How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level?
