Telespazio VEGA Deutschland is the Prime Contractor for the development of a complex, decentralized Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS to support ESAs Sentinel3 earth observation satellite. Telespazio VEGA is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer to oversee the maintenance of two of the PDGSs key components, the Mission Performance Monitoring Facility MPMF and the Instrument Processing Facility IPF, awarded by Telespazio VEGA to subcontractors through ESAs Best Practice Procurement BPP process. The position is located in Darmstadt. Key objectives of this position include Managing the maintenance of the MPMF and IPF components at technical level Ensure the quality and performance of the technical solution and that it meets requirements Provide support to the PDGS Project Manager and Technical Manager at system level to ensure that the MPMF and IPF integrate into the PDGS coherently, including interfacing with the customer RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES Manage the technical baseline for the MPMF and IPF during the maintenance phase including o The requirements baseline o The applicable documents baseline, including Interface Control Documents and Product Format Specifications o The Customer Furnished Items baseline Performing a detailed technical review of documentation delivered by the subcontractors for change requests, in particular to ensure consistency with the technical baseline and coherency with the PDGS at system level Organising and chairing the formal reviews of documentation packages within a Panel including Customer and other Telespazio VEGA subcontractor representatives in particular the Design reviews and the Test Readiness Reviews prior to acceptance Performing formal acceptance of the MPMF and IPF maintenance software deliveries prior to delivery for PDGS integration, including reviewing functional and performance requirements compliance Managing the anomalies raised on the delivered MPMF and IPF versions within a formal PDGS Software Review Board Support the Project Manager and the Technical Manager with the daytoday management of the BPP subcontractor Supporting the PDGS System Level team as required Support the PDGS for the IPF and MPMF components in the validation and commissioning phase QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE A degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or equivalent Experience in general software development and software engineering ESSENTIAL SKILLS Understanding of space sensors data processing Detailed knowledge in at least one of the following Data processing of existing Altimeter and Microwave Radiometer instruments Data processing of existing Optical Spectrometer and Radiometer instruments Experience in the some of the following fields Instrument Processors and their products Quality Control activities to ensure that the mission products meet the product quality specifications and performance during the mission lifetime Calibration activities to achieve a proper characterisation and calibration of the payload instruments Validation activities to ensure the pertinence of instrumental and geophysical information such as the geometric accuracy by comparison with external data Monitoring activities to ensure performances in terms of products and auxiliary data generation and availability with respect to the timeliness requirements Understanding of Payload Data Ground Segment architecture Requirements Engineering Integration and testing activities including review of test plans Good command of the English language Knowledge of ESAs ECSS standards applicable to Ground Segment development DESIRABLE SKILLS Wider experience in space industry beyond MPMF and IPF Understanding of hardware configuration based on virtual machines Objectoriented design with UML and CASE tools Knowledge of LINUX software package and tools Experience with DOORS Experience with JIRAKT You must be eligible to live and work in the EU,the acquisition of a security clearance is mandatory for this position.
