The same Windows 8.1 update will also allow you to run Metro apps in a window on the Desktop. Yes, it took Microsoft more than three years to backtrack on Windows 8's nightmarish interface and usability changes, but it seems the company is finally coming around to the fact that it shouldn't ignore the needs of hundreds of millions of PC users.
