Overview The holder of this post will contribute to all aspects project internalactivities, monitoringreview of the relevant industrial activities, interactionwith Mission Users and Scientists, interaction with Eumetsat relevant tothe mission performance of the S4S5 mission as well as support Head ofEOPPEP in the definition and promotion of generic approach andprocesses relevant to E2E Mission Performance Chain in coordinationwith other Mission Performance Engineers.The post holder will report to both to the S4S5 Ground Segment Engineer as well as to the Head of EOPPEP Office for the horizontaltasks. The principal tasks and responsibilities relevant to S4S5 include Support the verification of mission and system level requirements in the areas of Mission observation and Data products. Support the procurement and acceptance of S4S5 simulator, Ground Processor Prototype GPP and reference processors. Maintain mission performance tools to support the assessment of the relevant industrial development activities. Support the payload team for aspects relevant to instrument performance requirements flowdown and instrument performance verification. Follow up with industry the specification, procurement, verificationvalidation and acceptance activities for Simulator and GPP. Acquire working knowledge of tools for test data generation purposes and internal mission level verification activities. Verify, recondition and generate any data at CCSDS level or higher needed to support these activities. Support the preparation, execution and analysis of the relevant inflight calval operations during the commissioning phase. Interface with EUMETSAT Operational Ground Segment for Requirement definition and reviews of the Ground processor aspects. Support crossverification activities with the operational ground segment against the Ground Processor Prototype and Reference Processors. Organise, draft the agenda and convene the meetings to achieve the objectives above. The principle tasks and responsibilities relevant to horizontal activityinclude Review and maintain the standards and documentation in MS Word,Powerpoint and HTML relevant to E2E Mission Performance activitydeveloped within EOP. Support andor develop cross platform sw tools OSX, Windows, Unixrelated to the implementation of these standards. Proactively interface with stakeholder within EOP to gather furtherrequirements or evolution of process. Coordinate the development of internal repository and tools e.g.redmine websites, sharepoint to support cooperative workingwithin EOP on these aspects. Specific qualification requirements The profile for the personnel to provide services considered in this SoW is a researchanddevelopment oriented engineer with the following skills University degree MSc. or equivalent qualificationin relevant physical science, software or engineering. Demonstratedbackground and experience in managingfollowing softwaredevelopments in a space project environment. The candidate must possess solid analytical skills, a proactive andflexible attitude, together with the capability to critically analyse the workperformed byindustry in the relevant areas, quickly identify the problems andproposeinstigate corrective actions. The candidate should also be able toorganise and conductmeetings with different parties, assertively presenting results andfacilitating convergence on technical aspects. The candidate shall demonstrate to be proficient with programming toolsand languages relevant to the implementation andmaintenance of the simulators and GPPs e.g. C, C, Java and Pythonand at ease with modern build systems. Knowledge in managing and configuration of cooperative environmentredmine, confluence, jira, etc and in manipulatingCCSDS data is an asset. Good communication skills. General knowledge of ESA Earth Observation missions. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within theboundaries of assigned tasks and a stringent schedule. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the outside world. Proficient in the English language spoken and writtenknowledge of otherlanguages is an asset. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remunerationin line withESA Job Class. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday.
