Telefonica sells further 15.2% Telxius to KKR for EUR 484.5 mln

(Telecompaper) Telefonica has announced that private equity firm KKR exercised the previously agreed call option over 38 million shares of its infrastructure subsidiary Telxius (representing 15.2 percent of its share capital) for EUR 484.5 million. As a result of this operation and together with the 24.8 percent stake it acquired last month, KKR will hold 40 percent of Telxius, with Telefonica retaining control.

Greece raises EUR 201 mln in 1,800 MHz auction

(Telecompaper) Greek telecommunications authority EETT secured EUR 201.450 million through the allocation of frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band. Cosmote bought the largest share of spectrum for EUR 83.150 million, while Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas paid EUR 59.2 million and EUR 59.1 million respectively for their licences.

(Telecompaper) The European Commission has ordered Amazon to pay back EUR 250 million in unpaid takes after ruling that it benefited from illegal state aid from Luxembourg. The decision, which confirms recent reports, follows a three-year probe into tax arrangements between the US online retailer and Luxembourg, with the European Commission having already ruled that the 2003 sweetheart deal "constituted state aid". In a statement, EU competition commissioner Margrethe Vestager said Luxembourg's "illegal tax advantages to Amazon" had allowed almost three-quarters of the company's profits to go untaxed, meaning it paid four times less tax than rival local companies.
Rovio sets IPO price range, plans market cap of almost EUR 900 million

Sky launches Spanish OTT service for EUR 10 a month

(Telecompaper) Pay-TV giant Sky has launched its online pay-TV service in Spain. The service is similar to the Now TV-branded OTT service already available in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy, but the Spanish launch marks the first time Sky has entered a market where it has no satellite operation. Sky TV costs EUR 10 a month and gives subscribers access to 12 live channels and an on-demand catalogue of TV series, films and documentaries.
