Telia, Turkcell sell stake in Azercell to Azintelecom for EUR 222 mln

(Telecompaper) Fintur Holdings, jointly owned by Telia Company and Turkcell, has agreed to sell its 51.3 percent holding in Azertel, sole shareholder of Azerbaijan's biggest mobile operator Azercell, to the Azerbaijan state-owned operator Azintelecom. The agreed price is EUR 222 million.

(Telecompaper) The Spanish government has guaranteed a total of up to EUR 165 million in "non-refundable" subsidies to the GSMA in order to ensure that the Mobile World Congress remains in Barcelona until at least 2023, according to unnamed sources cited by El Mundo. The figure covers the years 2011 to 2023, with the Spanish state, the city of Barcelona and the regional Catalan government (Generalitat) contributing in equal parts. The government also promised the GSMA that companies contributing to the organisation of the event, including Telefonica, would enjoy "the maximum fiscal benefits", said the report.
Masmovil posts EUR 97 mln FY profit, expands Orange roaming deal

(Telecompaper) Spanish telecommunications provider Masmovil, the country's fourth largest network operator, has reported net revenues of EUR 351.8 million for the fourth quarter of 2017, up 17 percent year on year, with quarterly recurring EBITDA rising to EUR 69.7 million on a reported basis compared to EUR 28.7 million year earlier. The company also turned to profit, with full-year net income climbing to EUR 96.9 million for the year compared to a EUR 36.6 million loss a year earlier. Full-year net revenues were up 16 percent to EUR 1.30 billion, with the recurring EBITDA margin rising to 18.3 percentage points from 10.6 percent in 2016 and capex doubling to EUR 221 million, mostly focused on the continued rollout of its 4G and fibre networks.
