For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a Java EE Development COTS Integration Support Engineer. Tasks It is foreseen, that the detailed key tasks will include as a minimum 1. Java EE Application Development Design, implement, maintain, test and deliver applications for all services based on Java, Java EE, Oracle Database and Oracle Web Center Content Management System following the full application development and maintenance cycle 2. COTS Application Maintenance Specify, customize, integrate and maintain clientserver based COTS systems and document the customisation and integration in the EUMETSAT environment e.g. Book Library System, Org Chart System, Image Library System. Furthermore the key person is expected to support the following tasks, but to a much lesser extent than the key tasks 1. Microsoft Access Database Maintenance Maintain, test and deliver applications based on Microsoft MS Access 200713 2. General Tasks Provide second level support for existing applications, systems and services Gather and document user and system requirements constraints Document the tasks and deliverables according to EUMETSAT working practices Perform the related quality assurance, configuration and change management activities Contribute to project planning and reporting. Qualifications and Requirements In addition to having a university degree in computer science, software engineering or equivalent, the key person shall have as a prerequisite for Java EE Development At least 5 years professional experience in the design, implementation, integration and testing of Website and Intranet applications using Java EE 7 and Oracle databases 11g At least 3 years professional experience in developing with JSFFacelets, JSP Servlets At least 3 years professional experience in developing with JPA Hibernate, TopLink Knowledge of XHTML, CSS, Ajax, JavaScript, XML, XSTL Knowledge of Oracle SQL Knowledge of Oracle WebCenter Content 11g Advantage Experience in integrating applications in Oracle WebCenter Content 11g Advantage Experience in Glassfish 4 administration Advantage General Tasks Knowledge of Windows Proven experience in formal documentation, preferably in a ISO 9000 certified project and service environment High degree of autonomy, good personal communication skills oral and writing and strong customeroriented approach to interact with EUMETSAT personnel. For our activities in the European Space Astronomy Centre we are currently seeking to employ a Software Engineer to provide a number of specialised services to support ESA in developing Gaias Astrometric Global Iterative Solution AGIS software Main Service Tasks Responsibilities To provided as part of the Gaia SOC AGIS team in close coordination the scientific community to develop the Global Iterative Solution into an operational system Development and integration of scientific algorithms Service support must be provided for Coding scientific algorithms in Java following detailed mathematical descriptions Integrating these algorithms into the AGIS framework Testing and validating new implemented functionality unit integration tests using simulation data optimize new code in terms of memory CPU usage All activities will be supported by SOC personnel and collaborating external scientists. Maintenance of existing code modules, support must be provided for maintenance of existing code. In particular Analyse and resolve known deficiencies and inadequacies Issues of existing AGIS software modules Verify and validate that issues have been resolved usually in the form of extending existing tests andor conduction of new largescale tests System verification and scientific validation Aid in the definition, conduction and analysis of largescale testing campaigns including a first assessment of the scientific quality of results Documenting results of test campaigns in the form of validation test reports Aid in the creation of the first astrometric solution L22m, support the SOC personnel in all activities needed to generate the first astrometric solution with real flight data, such as Populating the operational AGIS processing DB with IDT and all needed auxiliary data Starting the AGIS run Monitoring the execution of the run from a technical and scientific viewpoint In case of problems, diagnose their cause and implement rectifying actions All activities will be supported by SOC personnel and collaborating external scientists. In addition to AGIS the Gaia SOC is responsible for operating and maintaining a number of other key systems like the Initial Data Treatment IDT or the central Gaia Tools Java Library. You may be asked to support maintaining these systems in phases of manpower shortage. Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a University degree, minimum of a Masters, and background in a scientific or technical subject together with relevant professional experience of at least 5 years in software development.
