The job For our activities at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Software System Test Engineer mfd The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for the Integration, Validation and Verification IVV of a complex software systems chain used in Satellite Earth Observation Data Processing applications. The tasks will focus on the execution of the IVV activities by performing the corresponding integration and verification testing campaigns according to the agreed plans and supporting the Senior engineers on the validation of systems when performing the corresponding validation test campaigns. In more details, the activities may include among others Scheduling and executing of all the integration and verification activities Ensuring sufficiently in advance of execution that relevant procedures, tools and data are ready to be used, performing any final tuning or setup Participating in the corresponding Test Readiness Reviews TRR Performing the integration and verification activities and testing according to the plans, procedures and arrangements taken in the relevant readiness review Undertaking any required analysis of the resultsissues and recording the outcome in relevant reports, and anomaly reports Participating in Test Review Board meetings Maintaining the relevant VCD and recording the results of the tests in DOORS Supporting Anomaly Review Board ARB meetings Liaising with the development teams for technical issues related to the test execution, the communication of anomalies, the followup of their resolution and installation of patches or new releases. Skills and experience The ideal candidate is a SW professional with 25 years relevant, demonstrated work experience on as many as possible of the following subjects in order of importance Automated SW system testing Requirements and verification management using DOORS Scripting languages in a Linux environment Programming languages CC, Java, Javascript, XML, Perl, TclTk Operating systems UNIXLinux and Windows Relational databases MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL Networking Internet protocols, TCPIP The capability of working effectively in the English language, including the participation in technical meetings andor boards and the production of technical documents and reports, is essential. Optional skills and experience Knowledge of as many as possible of following subjects would be beneficial in order of importance Creation of suitable test cases, documentation and their execution Requirements and verification management Formal testing at component, facility and system level Experience in benchmarking and stress testing Structured software development, verification, maintenance, performance monitoring Near realtime, Earth observation data processing, archiving, distribution Satellite missions ground systems ground station, monitoring and control systems e.g. SCOS2000 Satellite communications standards packet TMTC, PUS, SLE protocol Knowledge of German or any other European language would be a plus. For our activities at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Software System Engineer. Job tasks and responsibilities In order to fulfil its mandate, EUMETSAT manages and operates among other systems complex online and offline data processing systems and products generation facilities. The purpose of such systems is to generate higher level data products from the lower level data produced by the satellites instruments and transmitted to the ground. The successful candidate will have to perform day to day operations and maintenance, handling of anomalies, upgrades and configuration changes for these systems and facilities. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures and support to the management of the technical interface with the external contractors. Besides the above described routine tasks, the selected candidate will also be expected to contribute to requirements specification, design and system engineeringreengineering, development and testing activities that will become necessary for existing and future production systems. It should be noted that the scientificalgorithm software part of the Data Processing Applications is a plugin to the data processing chain, and as such outside the scope of this job. This means that specific knowledge in the meteorological field is not strictly required. More activities to be performed include Coordinationinputs to planning and preparation of system releases, also including newupgraded components Generation and maintenance of technical baseline documentation Contribute to the operations of existing data processing ground segments Participation in technical meetings and formal reviews Analysis of the maintenance requirements and identification, procurement or implementation of the tools required to fulfil them Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures Investigation, documentation, fixing and resolution of system anomalies within a formal configurationcontrolled development environment Required skills System Engineering of large, UNIX or LINUX based, complex, realtime data processing systems. This includes requirements specification, design, software maintenance or development, formal software testing and system integration Very good technical writing skills particularly in the area of formal technical documentation e.g. requirements specification and design documentation, test plans and procedures, maintenance procedures Source code control systems e.g. Subversion, Git Software anomalies analysis, debugging, profiling, fixing and processing. Telecommunications System Engineer 1911001 Job Description We are looking for a Software Engineer for our customer, ESTEC, and their Ground Software Systems and Functional Verification Section of the Software Systems Division. You will support activities related to EGSE systems Project such as eSail, PLATO support on the procurement, development and utilisation of EGSE systems, including problem solving, interfaces with external systems and project reviews. Project support for Ground Software Systems, such as the EarthCare Operational Scientific Ground Segment development, Level 0, 1 and 2 dataprocessing, visualisation. This includes generic software engineering, software development support, collaborative software development environment support, software acceptance compilation, installation, running tests. Support on RD studies, specifically related to the currently under development European Ground System Common Core EGSCC, which will be the basis of the future Electrical Ground Support Equipment EGSE and Mission Control Systems MCS infrastructures in Europe. Maintenance and future developments of the EGSE Reference Facility as part of the Software Systems Laboratory.
