LG, ZTE withdraw from MWC due to coronavirus concerns

(Telecompaper) LG Electronics and ZTE are the first companies to announce they will not attend Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month, in order to limit the risk of exposure to the coronavirus. Organisers of the mobile conference said the event will still go ahead, with recommendations such as no handshakes among participants.

ZTE to raise CNY 11.5 bln in share issue to fund 5G development

FCC bans USF companies from using Huawei, ZTE equipment

(Telecompaper) The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted an order that barrs its USD 8.5 billion per year Universal Service Fund (USF) from being used to purchase equipment and services from companies that pose a national security threat. The order specifically designates Huawei and ZTE as the target of this rule. Companies receiving USF funds will have to remove and replace equipment if it is from the designated companies. The FCC will now determine how much targeted equipment USF carriers might have and what the costs will be to remove and replace equipment.

FCC to vote in November on banning USF carriers from using Huawei, ZTE kit

(Telecompaper) The US is moving ahead with regulation to ban operators that receive universal service funds from using equipment from Chinese suppliers Huawei and ZTE due to security concerns. FCC chairman Ajit Pai said the regulation would include funding to help operators already using the suppliers to replace their equipment with new suppliers.
