While there hasn't been a sharp rise in the volume of mobile malware this year, the increasingly malicious nature of the types of malware and attacks is alarming, Blue Coat Systems said last week in its 2015 Mobile Malware Report.

This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ECSAT, Harwell United Kingdom. DUTIES The postholder will report to the Head of the Satcom Projects Systems Section, which is responsible for the analysis, definition, initiation and management of industrial activities associated with new satellite telecommunication projects in the Directorate. Specific responsibilities will include monitoring and assessing the needs and potential for future mobile and secure communication systems, particularly in the area of aeronautical communications, as well as initiating and managing studies on associated system concepts analysing and preparing proposals for new mobilesecure satellite telecommunication projects, including the definition of mission requirements contributing to the definition, planning and implementation of aeronautical telecommunications standardisation activities defining all elements associated with the endtoend missionsystem architecture of new mobilesecure satellite projectssystems. Assessment and analysis of the best concepts and technical solutions to meet the defined mission and system requirements assessing the potential and benefits of new mobile techniquestechnologies and security concepts at system level. Performing tradeoffs between different conceptstechnologies to optimising the endtoend system negotiating, monitoring and controlling contracts and activities related to new mobilesecure satellite projects acquiring and developing endtoend system engineering expertise in the development of new mobilesecure satellite system concepts and in new ESA ProjectsProgrammes. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering and substantial experience in satellite telecommunication systems, preferably in the definition and implementation of the space andor ground segment of mobilesecure systems for aeronautical communications. Specific experience in satellite telecommunications commercial market development is desirable. Candidates shall demonstrate innovation and creativity pragmatic approach with strong analytical capabilities excellent organisational and decision making skills strong results orientation proven ability to build positive relationships excellent communication skills. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
