Job Description For one of our client, ESAESAC, we are currently looking for a Software PA Engineering Support Parttime, giving support onsite, at ESAC, Madrid, Spain. Tasks and Responsibilities Contribute to the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of SW PA programme Monitor and evaluate SW PA analyses, reports and technical notes Participate to project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, Nonconformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards Prepare design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments Establish and maintain databases to track NCRs, RFWs, action items etc. as required. Requirements Masters degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science with background on space engineering Professional experience on SW engineering and quality assurance Experience on ESA software engineering processes and standards is an asset Experience in tools as JIRA, Sonar, Confluence, Jenkins, Git, Nexus, Maven is an asset Experience in the development, operation and maintenance of ESA ground segment facilities and some scientific background is an asset Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools Practical experience in applying ECSS SW standards Configuration management of complex systems Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Summary An experienced and knowledgeable Senior JAVA Software Engineer required to write astronomical software for the Gaia missions Science Operations Centre at ESAC. Objective ESAs Gaia mission is designed to create an accurate and complete astrometric catalogue which will serve for decades to come. The data processing and catalogue creation is carried out by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium DPAC formed by around 400 individuals and six main data processing centres distributed across Europe. The Gaia SOC at ESAC is an integral part of DPAC and plays a key role in designing the overall system architecture and developing and operating parts of the Core Processing systems viz. Initial Data Treatment IDT, First Look FL, and the Astrometric Global Iterative Solution. This position is for a scientific software engineer to continue development of the SOC software and act as an authority for the design and structure of the software provided by institutes and universities external to ESAC. Responsibilities Duties Develop and maintain modules, applications and tools for the generation and quality checking of scientific data products. Ensure timely delivery of SW releases and relative increments Perform SW architectural design as needed Prepare and maintain SW documentation Develop and maintain unit test harnesses Participate in the Configuration Control Boards applicable to the development and operation of the software Followingup and tracking the correction and resolution of problem reports Implement approved software enhancement requests Qualifications Experience University degree in computer science, or software engineering, or scientific discipline, or equivalent. The service provider shall manage the service provision and provide ESA with the necessary data and corresponding evidence The performance of the service provider shall be measured and assessed on the basis Documents generated at the dates required by the project milestones and internal plans Documents reviewed prior to project reviews Reporting inlinein time with the schedule Other deliverables in line with the requirements and agreed schedule This service will have direct interaction with SCI OQ.
