System Engineer Operations Preparation Support Sentinel Expansion

Thorn SDS is a specialist provider of engineering services within the European Space Sector. We have a new and immediate requirement for an experienced System Engineer to join our consortiums service team providing a number of preoperational support activities to the Mission Control Teams, linked to the evolutions and new developments required with the Earth Observation EO Flight Operations Segment FOS and in particular Sentinel Expansion Missions. The scope of the role is wide ranging but will specifically cover PreOperations Support in the following areas Ground Systems FOS Assembly, Integration and Validation A, IV SpacetoGround testing and Validation You should be able to clearly demonstrate experience in all these areas and, in addition, have a minimum of 5 years of experience in providing support to and integrating within Mission Control Teams for FOS development activities, ideally from early requirements definition phase to A, IV activities. You should have a good understanding of the operational concepts linked to File Based Operations FBO and the CCSDS File Delivery Protocol CFDP. A background and experience working with European Cooperation for Space Standardisation ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS and a good working knowledge of PUSC would be considered advantageous. We also expect you to have experience in drafting and implementing FOS System Test Plans, knowledge and understanding of the European Ground Systems Common Core based Mission Control Systems EGOSCC MCS and demonstratable experience of SCOS 2000 Mission Control Systems. For permanent employment the Navigation Systems department at OHB System AG in Bremen is looking for a Satellite Operations System Engineer for Galileo mfd Your Tasks As a Satellite Operations System Engineer for Galileo, you will be assigned to the GSOp project. You will report to the project manager and will be responsible for the execution of the technical activities including Lead the technical queries and anomaly investigations in collaboration with the satellite operations teams Coordinate with the external stakeholders involved in the space segment maintenance activities in the frame of the weekly Anomaly Review Board and other technical meetings. Coordinate with the internal System and Subsystem teams for technical expertise Design and validate the recovery actions with the help of experts and support their implementation inflight Process and analyse the telemetry and maintain the supporting tools and infrastructure Participate to the preparation of technical proposals for the customer Contribute to the development of our activities within Galileo You will also have the opportunity to support the other Galileo projects of the Navigation department. In this frame, you will report to the Lead Operations System Engineer. The System Operations Engineer supports the operations of EUMETSATs Copernicus space and ground segment systems. The initial focus is system operations engineering for the Copernicus Sentinel3 S3 ground segment and systems, including the operations preparations for the recurrent spacecraft S3C S3D. The position will also provide system operations engineering support to other Copernicus missions.
