Sentinel3 System Operations Engineer

In order to support our customer EUMETSAT in performing the Sentinel3 mission, we are looking for an experienced System Operations Engineer to support the routine phases of the Sentinel3A and the upcoming Sentinel3B mission with a launch scheduled for the 25th April 2018. Responsibilities Duties In general, different activities in support to the Sentinel3 Ground Segment Operations and Operations Preparation, focusing on the Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS, shall be performed at our customer EUMETSAT Definition and production modification of the ground mission data set, covering operations documentation sets, in cooperation with the facility and domain experts. Definition and implementation of the procedure tree Operations System Validation of the Ground Segment Support the definition of the operations interfaces with external entities Raising and tracking of Anomaly Reports, which includes investigations into spacecraft payload ground segment anomalies and regression testing of associated fixes Support to Space Segment and Ground Segment operations and operations preparation e.g. in case of calibration campaigns, special satellite operations, rehearsal and training, etc. Support to Space and Ground Segment mission operations data production and validation Interaction with ESA ESOC during LEOP and Satellite InOrbit Validation operations for S3B Interaction with ESA ESRIN and their partners for PDGS Commissioning operations Furthermore, operations engineering support to the PDGS IVV activities, interactions between PDGS Marine, Core Ground Stations CGS, Land Processing and Archiving Centres PACs, and the Mission Performance Centre MPC will part of this position. Qualifications Experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the personnel responsible for performing this service shall have several years of experience of spacecraft and related ground segment operations Experience in EndtoEnd operations preparation and routine system operations of Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems in a realtime spacecraft operations environment Experience in the operational validation of ground segment system Experience in the definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including system and ground segment procedures and operations guides Experience with analysis of operational user requirements Experience in development and maintenance of complex operational ground systems, preferably for remote sensing spacecraft Definition of operations interfaces and processes with external partners Essential Skills Demonstrated capability to liaise with the operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of system activities and monitoring and control activities Demonstrated capability to Interface with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes to the mission performance systemsemonstrated capability to Interface with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes to the mission performance systems Demonstrated capability in processing of mission performance related system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Experience with modern satellite and systems monitoring and Control systems Expert knowledge and proven application of development using e.g. Java, Perl, Oracle, operating system script, and XML technologies Experience of using configuration management systems svn, cvs Definition, management and traceability of complex requirements structure experience in the use of tools e.g. DOORs Desirable Skills Expert knowledge and proven application of development using e.g. Matlab, Python, IDL. The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge base in Mission Control Systems, Operational Simulators and overall Satellite Ground Segment. The candidate is also required to have good understanding of Satellite operations. The effort includes all phases of design, from the definition of requirements, to the deployment of the system for the operational use and maintenance. Key Responsibilities Software requirement definition, design and development for a Mission Control System and an Operational Simulator Participation in project reviews e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR Interfacing with all the other ground segment elements, operation team and spacecraft development team Participation in verification readiness reviews and verification testing campaigns at unit and system level.
