Main responsibilities A diverse range of support tasks is required by the candidate providing technical support to the Sentinel5 Precursor Operations Manager in the daytoday tasks related to the Sentinel5 Precursor mission operations. In detail the candidate shall Support the Sentinel5 Precursor Operations Manager with the coordination between the Sentinel5 Precursor operations contracts, including Data Acquisition, Processing and Archiving, Networking, Data Dissemination, Mission Performance Centre, Endtoend monitoring and trend analysis of the Sentinel5 Precursor PDGS production system in accordance with defined performance levels Support in the routine tasks relevant to the Sentinel5 Precursor Mission Payload Data Ground Segment, including the review of operations reporting Oversight of the anomaly management processes and coordination of any necessary cross contract followup Maintenance and configuration control of relevant baseline documentation Support for the identification and coordination of relevant change requests across ground segment contracts Preparation of relevant reports, including collection of performance indicators and statistics Support to the project and service specific reviews In addition to the main tasks the following shall be carried out Assist in early detection of performance degradation, definition of corrective actions Oversee anomaly investigations and definition of recovery actions Support analysis of possible evolution and optimisation of the system seeking reduction of risks, moderation of running costs and required technological evolutions Support analysis of new requirements received from user communities andor EC Interface and coordination with the Sentinel5 Precursor operations contracts Interface and coordination with other Sentinel missions for the utilisation of common services Interface and coordination with the Sentinel5 Precursor Mission Performance Centre which performs the calibration and validation activities and conducts the evolution of the processing algorithms and routine data quality control Support the preparation and update of mission documents as well as presentations of related information Support technical analyses related to the activities of various partners, including in particular system budgets estimation of volume of data to be accessed by collaborative ground segments, etc. Deliver new presentations as requested for meetings Participation to relevant meetings when requested Assist with the collection and analysis of information for the compilation of technical notes, plans, etc. Review of technical notes and documents Contribute to the mission operations reporting Assist the organisation of mission operations reviews Support the management of Review Item Disposition RIDs during operations reviews Support the review of data packages during operations reviews Activity input High level guidance of Operations Manager Existing Sentinel5 Precursor Mission and Payload Data Ground Segment project documents Service reporting from the Sentinel5 Precursor operations contracts. Activity output Analysis on Sentinel5 Precursor service performance reports Support to Sentinel operations review processes, including the compilation and distribution of data packages and the management and reporting of the status of the Review Item Disposition RIDs Actions Support to CSC reporting generation, including weekly, monthly and quarterly reports Other documents, technical notes and reports as required. Ideal candidate KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, the candidate must have excellent team working skills, being able to work autonomous and have good analytical skills. The candidate shall also have at least 5 years of specific work experience in the field and have Experience in EO mission ground segment system engineering, ideally Sentinel related Knowledge of similar atmospheric sensors e.g. SCIAMACHY instrument Experience in defining payload data processing systems architectures, specifying system technical budgets, etc. Ability to work in an autonomous manner, in particular when providing support to projects with high time allocations and this in coordination with the line manager Good technical and analytical skills Good time management skills Ability to work under pressure and without continuous supervision Good knowledge of MS office tools including spreadsheet and presentation preparation.
