This is an an ideal position for an experienced Software Engineer with minimum 3 years experience in the operation and maintenance of SCOS2000 satellite control systems. The position is fully based on customer side in EUMETSAT, unlimited and fulltime. Submission deadline for applicants for this position will be 29.02.2016. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The tasks of the key person will typically include Support to routine operations, including o Definition and maintenance of missioncontrol operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides o Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities o Liaison with the operations analysts to ensure continuity and optimisation of database related activities o Interface with other facilities within the operational ground segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission monitoring and control activities o Interface with external elements of the operational Ground Segments to ensure the o continuity and optimisation of data exchanges with the mission control systems o Interface with the mission control systems maintenance team and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes o Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses o Provision of standbyoncall support as part of a team of MCS engineers o Provision of support, as required, to critical operations o Processing of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards o Participation in further technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings. Support to modifications to the operational systems, including o Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. o Processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards o Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission control systems and related elements, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment. Support to the preparations for recurrent satellites and future satellite programs Support to operations teams, providing training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team. QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE Software engineer with minimum 3 years experience in the operation maintenance of SCOS2000 satellite control systems. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Fluency in English At least three years work experience in the operation of spacecraft control systems At least three years work experience developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software At least five years work experience developing andor maintaining software for a UNIX operating system At least two years work experience with the SCOS spacecraft control system At least two years work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software. The ESOC software applications include MICONYS, SIMULUS, TEVALIS, DABYS, EUD, and Ground Station Back End Data Systems. Good knowledge of one or more of these applications is required. Responsibilities Typical activities to be undertaken are Setup and maintenance of the Integration and Test reference environment and relevant configuration Installation and integration of infrastructure application releases Creation and maintenance of virtual machines containing a collection of infrastructure applications Creation and maintenance of test databases, containing the static and dynamic data required to perform the systems validation activities Installation, configuration, test, validation, verification, debugging of ESOC infrastructure applications MICONYS, SIMULUS, TEVALIS, DABYS, EUD, Ground Station Back End Data Systems Participation in Progress Meeting and Reviews Review of technical documentation and verification of compliance to the applicable requirements Production and maintenance of technical documentation, including test plans and test reports Collaboration with the ESOC Technical Officers for the acceptance tests activities of the main systems deliveries and patches Definition and execution of manual and automated test cases Measurement of systems performance Production of test reports documenting the outputs of the systems acceptance test activities. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or physics, together with longstanding professional experience in the domain of spacecraft operations andor ground segment development with satellite navigation systems e.g. GPS, Galileo is considered highly desirable. Candidates should be systemminded and be able to work as a member of an interdisciplinary and intercultural team. Good communication skills, the ability to build strong relationships with all interfaces of the function as well as an ability to plan and organise efficiently are required to be successful in this position.
