Shower activity associated with a trough of low pressure located over the tropical Atlantic about midway between the Cabo Verde Islands and the Lesser Antilles has become limited. Environmental conditions are forecast to become less conducive over the next few days, and significant development of this system is no longer anticipated. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms continue in association with a trough of low pressure located about 1000 miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Some slow development of this system is possible during the next couple of days while it moves slowly west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic. Afterwards, environmental conditions are forecast to become less conducive for development. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent. Showers and thunderstorms have mostly diminished with an area of low pressure associated with the remnants of Peter, located several hundred miles south of the coast of Newfoundland. This low is becoming poorly defined while moving northeast over cooler waters and into a region of strong upper-level winds. Further development is no longer anticipated. Satellite images indicate that showers and thunderstorms continue to become better organized in association with an area of low pressure located several hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands. If the current trends continue, advisories will likely be initiated on a tropical depression or tropical storm later today. This system is expected to move west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the eastern Atlantic during the next several days. Environmental conditions are conducive for additional development, and a tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form later today or tonight while the disturbance moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the eastern tropical Atlantic.
