Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for gradual development of this disturbance during the next few days while it moves west- northwestward, and then northwestward toward the southeastern and central Bahamas. This system is forecast to merge with a cold front over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico later tonight, and development of the low is not expected. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent * Formation chance through 5 days...low...near 0 percent An area of cloudiness and showers extending northward from the east-central Caribbean Sea across the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico is associated with a surface trough. The associated thunderstorm activity is currently disorganized, and the Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter mission scheduled for this afternoon has been canceled.
