Tasks The position aims to support existing EUMETSAT Operational or preOperational systems MTP, MSG, EPS,..., and possibly future programmes MTG, EPSSG,.... During the PreOperations and Routine Operations phases and in the frame of the configuration identification phase, the tasks of the Contractor will typically include the creationmodificationdeletion and the version tracking of the following Configuration Items Hardware items e.g. computers, infrastructure Comms equipments Software items e.g. Software applications, COTS and associated Licences Documentation e.g. SpacecraftGround Segment Operational Guides, Manuals and Procedures In support to Change control processes, the Key person shall Administer and perform an endtoend tracking of Change Requests and Proposals Administer and perform an endtoend tracking of Configuration Items impacted by approved Changes, and related actions Keep up to date the database recording the mapping between Changes and Configuration Items, and the mapping Software items onto Hardware items Prepare and present baselines as necessary Act as the Secretary for the Change Review Board meetings, alternatively with other Configuration Management team members In support to configuration status accounting and auditing processes, the Key person shall Issue and present Configuration Status Accounting Reports as necessary Perform Configuration Management Inspections and Audits, and present related findings as necessary. In support to the Anomaly Reports tracking process, the Key person shall Organise and support the administration and tracking of Anomaly Reports ensuring the timely closure of Anomalies and associated actions Support Anomaly Review Board ARB meetings in the secretarial aspects, alternatively with other Configuration Management team members In support to application software development or maintenance processes, the Key person shall Ensure the proper identification and archiving of software releases delivered by external or internal maintenance teams Witness and crosscheck activities relevant to software installation Provide support to the configuration management of source code and data files Finally, the Key person will be requested to Actively contribute to the definition, implementation and continuous improvements of the Configuration Management processes document owned by the CM team Actively contribute to the definition, implementation and continuous improvements of the Configuration Management Guides and Manuals owned by the CM team Provide diligent support to CM Processes and Tool usersstakeholders first level support, workshops, training sessions Actively participate in the testing of the new releases of the Configuration Management tool Occasionally, attend technical meetings and participate in formal reviews Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree in Computer Science, the Key person shall have a minimum of five years experience in the field of Configuration Management, including build, deployment and installation processes on large softwareintensive high availability operational systems. Sound practical experience with Configuration Management standards e.g. CMMI, ISO or ESA ECSS Configuration Management tools as administrator or advanced user Serena Dimensions or Clearcase Databases programmingSQL Oracle or Sybase Testing of Software applications with complex ManMachine Interface And more generally SW development processes is required. The Key person shall have demonstrated very good communication and team working skills be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, in particular when applying the applicable Configuration Management standards and providing support to a wide range of users be able to work calmly under stress with the minimum of supervision Desirable skills Practical experience with Source code control tools CVS, SubVersion, SW development environments on UNIX Scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Javascript or vb.net would be considered as assets. Mission Within RSP Remote Sensing and Products Division, the key person will work in the team of the Atmospheric and Imaging Applications AIA in the group responsible for the scientific product development and implementation. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Algorithm software anomaly investigation and correction Design and implementation of algorithm enhancements or improvements Software feasibility analyses of proposed new product algorithms, or major algorithm upgrades Development of tools in support of product monitoring and product analysis, for example as part of MSG MPEF product validation testing Preparation of technical documents on product implementation issues Preparation of technical notes and reports as required Attendance at technical and RSPAIA team meetings as required The focus of these tasks will primarily be on the AMV products extracted from both geostationary and polar orbit systems however, there may tasks related to other products for which the work of the key person may be partially allocated. Profile In addition to having a University degree or comparable qualifications in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics or related subjects, the Key person shall have a minimum of three years experience of processing satellite or meteorological data. Specifically the Key person shall have Proven experience in the design, implementation, and testing of complex scientific algorithm software Proven experience of software development in C and Fortran in a UNIX environment Proven experience in software development using data visualisation and analysis tools e.g. IDL Experience in configuration control of software and data Sound knowledge and experience in the area of Atmospheric Motion Vectors extraction from satellite imagery, or experience with image processing algorithms in the area of feature identification and tracking would be a distinct advantage. Another distinct advantage would be experience in operational data processing. Fluency in English written and oral is mandatory.
