MCS Applications Software Engineer

For our customer, ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany, we are looking for experienced mission control system MCS applications software engineers that are eager to further develop, support and maintain ESAs suite of spacecraft MCS applications and related generic applications. Overview Provision of VLSI ASIC FPGA technical expertise to Projects involving requirements analysis, performance and budgets analysis, writing and assessment of VLSI specifications review, evaluation and checking of industrial contractors VLSI designs. Design, analysis, verification of VLSI systems for control and data processing applications, andor signal processing using industrial standard tools, hardware description and programming languages. Specific requirementstasks Technical and administrative management of the ESA SystemC and synthesizable VHDL IP Core pool of designs. This work will involve optimisation, update and overall maintenance and of the ESA VHDL IP Cores databases, provision of technical support to ESA IP Cores users performing analysis and finding solutions to problems in VHDL code, documentation or design methodology holding a strong collaboration with our Contracts department in arranging and solving licences and patent issues. Being familiar with the Space applications of microelectronics, and having knowledge of Space environment and quality requirements will be an important asset, but it is not mandatory. Experience with using third party Intellectual Property IP designs in VHDL andor SystemC is a requirement. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. SPECIFIC TASKS Task 1 follow up and coordinate the daytoday GSF, SOIF and SECMON AIV activities at GSMCFR and ES liaising with WP2X industry, WP1X industry and GSA GSMC. Task 2 follow up the deployment and onsite AIV planning through participation to the Mid Term Planning Meetings MTPs, Short Term Planning STP meetings and Change Control Boards CCBs. Task 3 liaise with the ESA Project Office in ESTEC on both urgent and daytoday matters potentially affecting the Galileo service continuity or limiting OPS capabilities. Task 4 review AIV documentation RVM, Test Cases, Test Procedures at segment and system level, especially those related to Site AIV activities and provide duly comments in relation to the review schedules. Task 5 support the planning of GSF, SOIF and SECMON Delivery Review Boards DRB and their associated test campaigns. Task 6 follow up the GSF, SOIF and SECMON onsite qualification activities both at system and segment level, reviewing the evidence contributed by the developing contractor WP2X. Task 7 follow up the test campaigns, in particular for tests executed on site. This includes attendance of TRRs, witnessing of test execution, review of test results and ensure the timely delivery of test logs to the data processing teams. Task 8 follow up the closure of GSF, SOIF and SECMON related anomalies as part of the Anomaly Review Boards and NCRs as part of Nonconformance Review Boards, either at segment level internal or resulting from systemOPS activities external, ensuring that critical issues are solved with maximum priority and any Work Arounds are duly validated. Task 9 support the GSMC Operators in their operational validation tasks, liaising with the technical experts in ESTEC and Industry and ensuring the operability of the delivered infrastructure Task 10 participate, as requested, in Galileorelated reviews and technical evaluation boards, in particular contributing to GSF, SOIF and SECMON qualification reviews, intermediate DRB reviews, system and operations reviews REQUIREMENTS Masters degree in a relevant field and minimum 4 years of relevant experience Experience with the Galileo programme, preferably related to security monitoring or PRS functionality Experience in technical procurement and contractors management, preferably in relation to a space or defense system Experience in configuration management, including preparation andor maintenance of operational documentation and procedures Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
