Description of the job Do you love diving into software, RF, electronics and test and measurement fields? Looking to test products that are going into space? As a Test Design Engineer you will be working in an environment covering hardware, software, measurement equipment, RF Radio Frequency equipment, electronics and interfaces. You will get the opportunity to create and design the environment, decide what equipment will be in that environment, develop test software and then delivering your findings. You will be focusing on high levels of integration, reliability and automation. Were looking for someone who has a passion for Engineering, with a proven trackrecord in successfully delivering high quality designs. Do you appreciate that the system and environment is only as good as the sum of its parts so what are you going to add to that environment? This role may require occasional UK travel, around 4 times per year. Tasks accountabilities Lead the design, development and validation of test system hardware and software to meet the challenging demands of testing digital equipment destined for space applications. Work with heritage test systems and commercialofftheshelf COTS technology to create an automated test system that meets the demands of verifying the product requirements Deliver a test solution including hardware, software, test reports, procedures, test scripts and results analysis. Work within a dedicated testsystem team and interact closely with product engineers and project managers to deliver testing to the cost, schedule and quality expectations. Support all test activities including environmental testing until final delivery of flight units to the, internal and external, customers. Assist in investigations into any test anomalies to rapidly determine the root cause and ensure that customer confidence in the product is maintained. Prepare and carry out design reviews softwaresystem. Required skills Strong background in Electrical Electronic engineering Strong understanding in RF Radio Frequency test and measurement equipment, familiar with their operation, control and automation e.g. spectrum analysers, Vector Network Analyser VNA, Arbitrary Waveform Generators AWG Software design experience CC and scripting languages such as Tcl Python Experience of hardwaresoftware integration testing Many of our staff work flexibly in many different ways, including parttime.
