Tasks The Remote Sensing and Products RSP division of EUMETSAT develops, implements, validates, and evolves operational observational products from EUMETSAT and agreed third party satellites. Furthermore, the division provides scientific expertise required to establish user requirements and future EUMETSAT satellite systems. RSP is active in the following areas relevant to this contract Instrument navigation, registration, and calibration Derivation of geophysical products from remote sensing data Application of satellite data in meteorology, oceanography, and atmospheric composition Radiative transfer theory Atmospheric chemistry and physics Meteorology and oceanography Development and maintenance of operational scientific data processing and monitoring software Calibration and validation expertise of Level 1 and Level 2 products Scientific document writing. In more general terms RSP covers activities such as Development and maintenance of algorithms, products, and product processors from EUMETSAT satellite data Development of product quality monitoring tools Implementation and maintenance of operational product processors including reprocessing activities Satellite data and product calibration and validation preparation, planning and execution. The following identified activities are examples of the type of tasks which are envisaged Development and evolution of data handling software for products generated by EUMETSAT, or for products from external partners Upgrade of data processors to be compliant with new libraries or architectures Evolution and update of software packages for the reading and visualisation of remote sensing data and products Development of database applications for satellite data product monitoring e.g. in support of EPS Global Ozone Monitoring Experiment2 GOME2, Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer IASI and Advanced Scatterometer ASCAT Redesign of software applications, e.g. transfer from one SW language to another Evolution of software packages in support of validation activities with third party data e.g. from the ATrain satellite constellation or the Earth Clouds, Aerosols and Radiation Explorer EarthCARE mission Formatting of test data sets according to various product format specifications.
