Spun yarn prices are no more moving in China. Yarn import prices are further rising in dollar terms, however dropping in yuan terms favoring demand for foreign yarns. Cotton yarn imports from Vietnam have slowed down in the last year whereas Indian shipments were rebounding, as reflected by our 5-year import data. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Cotton prices have continued rising in the last week on the international market, being boosted by a rebound of US export sales over stronger demand from China. With the end of trade negotiations being Beijing and Washington now in sight, prices will continue rising, as demand from Bangladesh and Vietnam could rebound. Cotton yarn prices have been further raised in the past seven days in India, as a result of a new jump of cotton fiber prices. Margins are falling at spinning mills and downward textile and apparel producers are protesting. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab).
