A vacancy for a Telecom system technical lead engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. You will be part of the Ground Segment GS team of the Space Systems Operations directorate in Toulouse.This team is in charge of all ground segment activities to serve the telecommunication satellite business unit, ranging from coordinating the development and delivery of GS solutions to the implementation of satellite and payload operations. Within this group, you will be in charge of Defining and coordinating the development of GS products in line with the telecom payload roadmaps and telecom system needs Supporting the Telecom Satellite answers to RFIRFP technical and financial offer including workshare agreements with subcontractors andor coprimes, Delivering GS solutions to external customers from specification definition up to maintenance phases. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Defining ground components for complex payload management e.g processed payload, active antenna, etc and mission optimisation Interacting with the satellite and telecom system team to capture and anticipate the ground product trends and needs in order to accompany present and future payload developments Coordinating product development whether it is internal and external procurement and integration into the ground segment Contributing to RFIRFP bids for the ground segment part. This role will involve some travel for business approximately 4 times a year, in Europe or other locations and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and expertise Engineering diploma or equivalent Minimum 5 years of experience in satellite telecom system engineering including advanced communication payload engineering incl. processing and beamforming, telecom link budget analysis, communication traffic management NOC Mission Control Center.., satellite payload management solutions, knowledge of ground terminal design and operation VSAT andor large teleports, including antenna, RF chain, baseband and IP layer. good knowledge of RF, spectrum resource allocations, traffic analysis, digital communications, payload engineering and air interface communications standards such as DVBS2 and DVBRCS as well as digital modulation schemes andor techniques. Ideally practical experience in commissioning and testing telecommunication satellite systems satellite and ground based experience in operating or at least in the design of a satellite communication operations systems NOC Mission Control Center Gateways experience in the engineering operation of MEO telecommunication satellite system would be an asset software engineering knowledge e.g. JAVA. Confident working directly with potential customers and subcontractors at technical level, Ability to work autonomously and effectively, as well as part of a team, cocoordinating tasks and responsibilities, Negotiation level of English and intermediate level of French. Essential Qualifications You should have A University degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, physical sciences or mathematics. A demonstrable understanding of current satellite communications technologies Significant experience in the telecommunications area, some or all in satellite communications, in a technical design andor systems engineering role preferably with direct experience in IT systems andor networks design. Proven consulting ability to advise senior telecoms customers on future systems design and work with stakeholders to devise new service concepts. You must be able to work in an environment where requirements change often and quickly, and have the ability to assimilate new information rapidly and derive suitable courses of action. You will also need to demonstrate good commercial acumen and business awareness. You should also have strong analytical skills, be selfmotivated and able to tackle technical assignments and problem solving without support from others. You must have strong written and presentation skills, with excellent attention to detail. An ability to anticipate risks and mitigate appropriately is essential. This role is based in Leatherhead and will require full time attendance at our Leatherhead offices.
