Dell sells IT services arm to NTT for USD 3 billion

(Telecompaper) Dell has agreed to sell its IT services arm to NTT Data, a unit of Japanese telecom operator NTT, for USD 3.05 billion. The divestment is expected to help Dell pay for its planned acquisition of EMC. NTT said Dell's customers will have access to an expanded range of services, while the Japanese company strengthens its customer in key verticals such as healthcare and insurance and gains data centres in the US, UK and Australia. NTT Data CEO John McCain will lead integration of the acquisition.

Dell close to sale of IT services arm to NTT - report

(Telecompaper) Dell is nearing a deal to sell its IT services business to Japanese operator NTT for about USD 3.5 billion, Re/Code reported. NTT executives are expected to formalize their offer in a meeting with Dell CEO Michael Dell in New York on 09 March. Dell is selling the activities to help raise cash to pay for its takeover of EMC. Dell hops to raise as much as USD 10 billion from asset sales and is also considering selling some software operations like Quest and SonicWall. Other bidders interested in the IT services arm, formerly known as Perot Systems, included Atos and TCS.
