You will be responsible to the Head of Equipment Products for executing allocated Software Work Packages within agreed cost, time and quality constraints. You will be responsible for demonstrating that the developed product meets all specified customer requirements, by analysing requirements and specifying the software solution and work breakdown preparing software architectural and detailed design UML Models and documentation generating source code to implement all aspects of the software detailed design controlling and reviewing work of the members of their team where a team exists integration of software onto the target platform providing software technical support supporting the company software process and procedure updates The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. You will need to ensure that All equipment is designed, developed, integrated and tested in accordance with Airbus Defence Space standards all supporting documents are produced in accordance with Airbus Defence Space standards. Tools, methodologies and coding standards are appropriately specified and applied to achieve project aims Technical design decisions are made within the context of known practices, established precedents and acquired technical expertise. The costbenefit tradeoffs of design options are understood, enabling appropriate judgement calls to be made. Software development plans can be estimated in detail, and resource requirements can be allocated against plans. The provision of technical guidance to fellow team members in software development tools and methodologies Success of both internal and external design reviews and project reviews throughout the development life cycle. The support of the design and development of critical components where decisions have a significant impact on project timescales. Customer liaison, by representing Airbus Defence Space on project related technical matters at stakeholder meetings. Design and Development by taking a technical role as a Prime on a critical component where required. The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience Educated to Degree Level or equivalent in Software engineering, Essential Experience Must have extensive experience of software development and be familiar with a number of software development methodologies Able to carry out development tasks of up to six months duration with very limited supervision Must have experience of software systems design implementation for networking communications in a commercial andor military environment. Must be familiar with process driven software development Essential Skills Implementation of embedded realtime software in either C or C or implementation of Windows application software in C Object oriented analysis, design and development documented using UML Must have an understanding of requirements implementation and traceability, and of work package definition and estimation Must have successful track record of working in a lead role Must be highly selfmotivated, articulate, with good verbal and written communications skills Desirable Skills Experience of full project lifecycle Experience of Requirements Management e.g. using DOORS Experience of software implementation of data or voice network protocols TCPIP, SNMP, VOIP, Knowledge of cryptographic techniques and their application in productssystems, Experience of SQL database interfacingdesign, Experience of formal software configuration management. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES Although formally procured by the Flight Operations FLO division, the candidate will be organisationally based in the Geostationary Orbit GEO division as part of the Mission Operations Facility MOF team, until shortly after launch. Verifying the facility installation Defining the Mission Planning, procedure edition and execution tools operational implementation database structures, etc Monitoring and steering the lifecycle for MPS, procedure edition and execution tools related anomaly reports ARs and nonconformance reports NCRs Interacting with internal users, suppliers and partner organisations Maintaining internally generated tools and creation of new internal tools, mainly developed in Java, C and C During the operations preparation and operations phase Performing routine and contingency scheduling tasks using the MPS and procedure edition and execution tools Performing preventative maintenance on the MPS and associated tools according to working practice, generally by running system checks to spot any system anomalies or errors Raising anomaly reports when necessary and monitoring their resolution through attendance at appropriate review boards. Supplying context and initial analyses that may aid the investigation of anomalies Responding to mission planning related anomalies and operational contingencies promptly Maintenance of mission planning documentation such as the User Guide document and the Operational Implementation document Rolling out of new versions of the MPS operational implementation following approved configuration management procedures Training of personnel in mission planning tasks as required QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE Software engineer with minimum 5 years experience in the specification, procurement or development and operations of a satellite mission planning system.
