Your Tasks Include The key person will work in the TSS Department as a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team, which is part of the GSI Division. The Mission Control Applications MCA and Tools Team is responsible for the maintenance and development of the following Mission Control Applications Spacecraft Monitoring Control, Local Applications Monitoring Control, Onboard software management, Flight Dynamics System, Mission Planning System, Ops Prep Tools, Data analysis and reporting tools, Spacecraft Simulator. The Mission Control Applications and Tools Team performs the following activities Software engineering and software maintenance of multimission and missionspecific Mission Control Applications and Tools for GEO and LEO missions. Software engineering for the reuse of Mission Control Applications and Tools with the separation between generic kernel and missionspecific extensions. Integration and verification at application and system level. User and software support to flight control teams. Support to the Client Programme Preparation and Development PRD Department for the PhaseBCD of new missions in the domain of Mission Control Applications. List of tasks The key person will provide hisher prime support to the Mission Control Applications and Tools Team and heshe will support The evolution and maintenance of the Clients Flight Dynamics Systems. The requirements specification, design, implementation, integration and verification of Flight Dynamics Systems for new Programmes PhaseBCD, including the setting up of the related maintenance arrangements and processes. The tasks of the key person will typically include Support to new Missions PhaseB activities Requirements engineering Participation in the functional analysis and decomposition of the Ground Segment requirements in the domain of Flight Dynamics System. Support the definition of Ground Segment requirements in the area of the Flight Dynamics System. Participation in workshops and review meetings. Interfacing with Operations to consolidate the operational concept in the Flight Dynamics System requirements. Support the identification of the verification method and initial test cases for the Flight Dynamics System requirements. Incorporate the reuse of the Clients Flight Dynamics System kernel products in the Ground Segment requirements. Interfacing with the Flight Dynamics System kernel product experts in the MCA Team to coordinate their contributions to the requirements definition. System Architectural design Support the generation of the architectural system level design of the Flight Dynamics System as part of the Ground Segment. Support the production of design models using Systems Engineering and CASE tools. Support the definition and documentation of all interfaces IRDsICDs between the elements of the Flight Dynamics System and other Ground Segment or external elements. Incorporate the reuse of the Clients Flight Dynamics System kernel products in the Ground Segment design. Support to new Missions PhaseCD activities Support to Flight Dynamics System implementation Support to the requirement and design engineering activities as part of the applications development. Participation and contribution in requirements, design and implementation reviews both internal and with external contractors. Follow the software development by external contractors of the Flight Dynamics System. Support to IVV and Acceptance Participation in verification readiness reviews and verification testing campaigns both internal and with external contractors. Maintenance and Evolution Activities Reengineering activities analysis of the porting of some subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Evolutions and changes generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenance driven software requirements, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes. Preventive and corrective maintenance including the investigation and correction or following the corrections implemented by external contractors of anomalies in the software facilities and verification testing of the fixes. Maintenance test procedures generation and updates of maintenance test procedures at software facility level and at system level. Support and development of the verification infrastructure development andor procurement of scripts tools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software. Coordination of the production of new software releases or patches, delivery acceptance and installation onsite. This activity includes the technical coordination of the production by an external contractor of new releases or patches of the application software, liaison with the Clients operational users, participation to technical reviews, participation to infactory at contractor premises acceptance testing campaigns and coordination of the installation of the releases or patches onsite. Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems. Software support software support to the endusers of the application software. Ensure operations continuity by provision of oncall services and software support to operations. Documentation generation and updates of technical documents. Technical point of contact for maintenance contractors acting as point of contact with the contractor for technical discussions, review of technical documentation from the contractor, organizing periodical technical meetings with the contractor. Support to Reference Architecture definition and maintenance Participation to the definition and maintenance of the Clients TSS reference architecture for the Flight Dynamics System part of the Ground Segment. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of specification, design, implementation, verification and maintenance of Flight Dynamics Systems. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas Domain Skills Experience minimum 3 years in requirements elicitation in the area of Flight Dynamics. Experience minimum 3 years in the definition of software requirements, architectural design, implementation andor customisation of Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems in the context of LEO missions. Software Development, Verification Maintenance Skills Experience minimum 3 years in the full cycle of development and maintenance of application software, preferably for Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems, following formal software engineering processes. This includes user and system requirement analysis, software requirement engineering, software design, implementation, corrective and evolutive maintenance activities. Experience minimum 3 years in IVV integration, verification and validation activities for Flight Dynamics Systems following formal engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, system and subsystem integration, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking. It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have knowledge andor experience with some of the following Domain Skills Experience with software development and maintenance of Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems and Tools based on the ESAESOC NAPEOS Navigation Package for Earth Observation Satellite. Experience with software development and maintenance of Tools using the Orekit space dynamics library. Experience in integration with Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. Experience in integration with Mission Planning Systems. Experience with support to operations for Satellite Flight Dynamics Systems. System Maintenance Skills Experience in being the technical point of contact for contractors working at offsite premises and responsible for application software evolution and maintenance. Software Technology Skills Experience with developing software applications using FORTRAN. Experience with developing software applications using Java. IBM DOORS requirement management Tool. Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect Tool. Linux Operating System. Experience in developing software applications using interfaces to relational database management systems RDBMS and experience with data model design for RDBMS. Unified Modelling Language UML for software design. XML processing schema design, validation, parser libraries, transformation XSLT and XPath. Experience in designing, developing and maintaining software client applications using Eclipse as HMI framework Rich Client Platform. Experience using tools for the automation of software testing. The official languages are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language. The key person shall also be assessed for the following skills and qualities Working proactively with the minimum of supervision in an individual or team environment. Software Engineering Support to Gaia Science Operations

Aurora is an established supplier of skilled manpower to ESA and in particular at ESTEC and ESAC. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to Gaia within the Science and Robotic Exploration Directorate DSRE. Aurora currently has a team of 26 engineers and scientists at ESAC including 6 on Gaia itself. Overview ESAs Gaia mission is designed to create an accurate and complete astrometric catalogue which will serve for decades to come More than 1000 Million objects mostly stars in our Milky Way down to apparent magnitude 20 will be repeatedly observed from the second Lagrange point L2 during the satellites nominal lifetime of 5 years. This will yield a raw data volume of about 100 TB 1 PB total from which each stars position, trigonometric parallax, and proper motion for a smaller subset also radial velocity will be determined to microarcsec accuracy typically 25 as for parallax at 15th magnitude. The data processing and catalogue creation is carried out by the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium DPAC formed by around 400 individuals and six main data processing centres distributed across Europe. The Gaia SOC at ESAC is an integral part of DPAC and plays a key role in designing the overall system architecture and developing and operating parts of the Core Processing systems viz. Initial Data Treatment IDT, First Look FL, and the Astrometric Global Iterative Solution. ESAC will also form the hub for data exchange via the Main Database MDB. This MDB will form the input for all processing and will be augmented with the output of all processing to arrive at a new version. The production of processing software for Gaia will continue through operations to final catalogue production in 2019. The SOC maintains core software as well as receiving packages from external entities to be integrated and run in SOC. The final and all intermediate catalogues will be served from ESAC and the corresponding database and access system is developed by a dedicated science archive team SAT in close cooperation with the SOC.
